FAQ

How do I convert an image?

Drop an image onto the upload area, or click to pick a file. Pick the output format—you can choose more than one—and hit Convert. Each result appears below with a Download link.

What formats can I convert to?

PNG, JPEG, WebP, and BMP. Pick more than one if you need the same image in several formats—they all convert at once.

What image types can I upload?

Any format your browser can open: PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, SVG, and TIFF. If your browser can't handle a file, you'll see an error when loading it.

What does the Quality slider do?

It only affects JPEG and WebP, since those use lossy compression. Lower values give smaller files but more visible artifacts; higher values look sharper but take up more space. Around 85–92 is a good range for most uses. PNG and BMP are lossless, so the slider has no effect on them.

Why is my converted PNG bigger than the original JPEG?

JPEG throws away data to shrink the file—that's lossy compression. PNG stores every pixel exactly, so the same image needs more space. You get perfect quality, but the file can end up several times larger.

Does converting reduce image quality?

Converting to PNG or BMP keeps everything intact. Converting to JPEG or WebP applies lossy compression and drops some detail. Moving between two lossless formats—say, PNG to BMP—doesn't lose anything.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. Your browser handles everything through the Canvas API. The file is read, drawn to a canvas, and exported in the new format—entirely on your machine. Nothing leaves your computer.
