Image Format Converter: Convert to PNG, JPEG, WebP, or BMP Online

Switch between image formats without ever sending your files to a server. Simply upload a PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, SVG, or TIFF, then select one or more output formats to begin. A quality slider for JPEG and WebP allows you to balance file size against image clarity. All processing happens locally on your machine via the Canvas API, ensuring your files remain private.

FAQ

How do I convert an image?

Drag and drop an image into the upload area or click to browse your files. Select your desired output format—you can choose multiple formats at once—and click "Convert." Your converted images will appear below with individual download links.

What output formats are supported?

You can convert images to PNG, JPEG, WebP, and BMP. If you need the same image in multiple formats, you can select them all and the tool will generate them simultaneously.

What file types can I upload?

The tool supports any format your browser is capable of opening, including PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, SVG, and TIFF. If a file is incompatible with your specific browser, an error message will appear during the loading process.

How are SVG files processed?

SVG files are rendered at their native resolution upon upload. While this produces high-quality results for most standard use cases, users who require granular control over their output may prefer our specialized tools. If you need to specify exact export dimensions, apply custom scaling, or manage background colors for JPEG conversion, our SVG to PNG Converter offers advanced features such as pixel-perfect sizing and aspect ratio locking.

What does the Quality slider do?

The quality slider is only active for JPEG and WebP formats, as these use lossy compression. Lower values result in smaller file sizes but may introduce visible compression artifacts. Higher values keep the image sharp but result in larger files. A setting between 85 and 92 is typically ideal for web use. Since PNG and BMP are lossless formats, the slider does not affect them.

Why is my converted PNG larger than the original JPEG?

JPEGs use lossy compression to significantly reduce file size by discarding some image data. PNG is a lossless format that stores every pixel exactly as it appears. When you convert a JPEG to a PNG, the file size often increases—sometimes by several times—because the image is being saved without any compression-related data loss.

Does converting reduce image quality?

Converting to PNG or BMP preserves the original image quality perfectly. However, converting to JPEG or WebP involves lossy compression, which may result in a slight loss of detail. Moving between two lossless formats, such as PNG to BMP, results in no quality degradation.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. All processing is handled locally by your browser using the Canvas API. Your image is read, rendered, and exported in the new format entirely on your device. Your data never leaves your computer.
